The way we see it...

It is our strong belief that all children can learn, first and foremost. On top of this, our students have shown us that they have a huge desire to learn. The result of this combination is a road (sometimes with curves and small bumps along the way) to success.

Each child being serviced through special education has an IEP (Individualized Education Plan) which thoroughly lays out goals and objectives that the child should reach during the school year.

We encourage our students to know what their goals are and to be advocates for themselves; that is, letting others (teachers and peers) know what types of modifications they need in order to learn best.

Some examples of modifications are additional time on tests, using quieter areas to eliminate distractions and working with books on tape.

Full inclusion……
means that children who are serviced through special education spend most of their time with their peers and their teachers in the regular education classroom. If warranted, kids may be taken out of the classroom for individualized or small group instruction.

As always we are happy to talk with parents about their children’s specific learning needs. If you feel that your child has special needs in learning (in any way) please contact Ms. Andress. It would be great to hear from you!
